¿Por qué la unidad no entra en modo de espera cuando se usa hdparm -S?

Al leer las hdparmpáginas del manual, dice que el -Svalor

es utilizado por la unidad para determinar cuánto tiempo esperar (sin actividad del disco) antes de apagar el motor del husillo para ahorrar energía

Al configurar mis unidades con hdparm -B 1 -K 1 -S 120 /dev/sd[d-z]la salida es:

 setting drive keep features to 1 (on)
 setting Advanced Power Management level to 0x01 (1)
 setting standby to 120 (10 minutes)
 APM_level    = 1

Y el estado inicial de la unidad hdparm -C /dev/sd[d-z]es " activo / inactivo ".

Todas estas /dev/sd[d-z]unidades tienen la misma marca y modelo, no están particionadas, no están formateadas y no están montadas.

Después de esperar 15 minutos , el estado de la unidad sigue " activo / inactivo ".

Solo cuando se emite un "Forzar un disco IDE para ingresar inmediatamente al modo de espera de bajo consumo de energía" usando hdparm -y /dev/sd[d-z]el disco, se pasa al estado "en espera ".

¿Por qué mis unidades no ingresan al estado de espera de bajo consumo de energía después del valor de tiempo de espera especificado por hdparm?
