¿Cómo puedo hacer que xrandr detecte ambas tarjetas nvidia: 2 x GTX480, triple-head?

  • Estoy ejecutando Linux Mint 16 (Petra)
  • Estoy ejecutando el controlador predeterminado nvidia-319 enviado con la distribución
  • Tengo 2 tarjetas GTX480
  • Tengo 3 monitores
  • Usando el controlador Nvidia, todos los monitores y GPU son recogidos por la utilidad patentada.

Sin embargo, de manera similar al informe en https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/719768/linux/304-121-ubuntu-14-04-xrandr-1-4-multi-gpu-not-being-detected / cuando ejecuto xrandr --listproviders Solo se me muestra un único proveedor: la primera tarjeta. Tengo xrandr 1.4, por lo que debería poder ver ambos. Si configuro una pantalla X separada y luego hago xrandr --listproviders --screen 1, puedo ver la segunda tarjeta. Sin embargo, no quiero múltiples pantallas X; Quiero poder fluir sin problemas entre monitores.

No quiero ejecutar xinerama ya que es un dolor en el cuello para configurar y debería ser reemplazado por xrandr.

Con el controlador nouveau puedo usar las tres pantallas exactamente como me gustaría, pero el rendimiento no es bueno.

Entonces, tengo algunas preguntas:

1.) ¿Es este comportamiento por diseño o un error? Observo en http://uk.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/319.12/README/randr14.html que el controlador solo admite la capacidad de Salida de fuente; ¿eso me detendría solo de ver dos proveedores de tarjetas diferentes en xrandr?

2.) Si lo primero es cierto, ¿hay alguna forma de evitar esto?

3.) He jugado con varias opciones de basemosaic, en vano

Este hilo me ayudó mucho, pero hubo muchos más pasos de los que se describen en la respuesta, así que pensé en dejar un comentario con los pasos detallados que funcionaron para mí.

  1. Utilice la aplicación "Driver Manger" en "Configuración del sistema" para seleccionar "nvidia-346" como controlador (no "nvidia-346-updates"). Haga clic en "Aplicar cambios". Una vez que la aplicación haya terminado de procesar, no pasará nada (no se instalará nada, no aparecerá ningún mensaje, no se mostrará ningún mensaje). Reinicie su computadora (esto es necesario porque el controlador de NVIDIA modifica el núcleo aparentemente y solo un reinicio completo del sistema hará que la instalación se complete).
  2. Cuando Linux Mint se inicia después del reinicio, Cinnamon se romperá y solo 2 de sus monitores funcionarán. No te molestes en tratar de arreglar Cinnamon, esto solo te llevará por un camino de instalaciones inútiles.
  3. Inicie la aplicación "Terminal". ¡Esto será complicado cuando Cinnamon se rompa porque "Terminal" falta misteriosamente en la lista de Aplicaciones en la barra de tareas! Y hacer clic derecho en el escritorio también está roto. La única forma en que he encontrado para iniciarlo es usar el atajo creado en el Paso 1 o usar el atajo de teclado Alt + F2.
