¿Qué es la actualización de archivos apt?

Estaba siguiendo estas instrucciones y he instalado apt-filejunto con otros paquetes usando:

sudo apt-get install gnupg pbuilder ubuntu-dev-tools bzr-builddeb apt-file

Y ahora cada vez que inicio mi computadora recibo este aviso:

aviso de actualización de archivo apt

Así que finalmente fui a la Terminal y escribí el comando:

apt-file update

Y obtuve esta salida:

Entonces veo que dice:

Entonces, ¿qué es exactamente apt-file? ¿Y qué significa el hecho de que ahora está utilizando el directorio de caché del usuario? ¿Es esto algo bueno? ¿Cuál es la diferencia aquí entre el directorio de caché del usuario y el directorio de caché de todo el sistema, y cuál debo usar? ¿Esto afecta de alguna manera a mis apt-getfuentes?

apt-filese utiliza para buscar qué paquete proporciona un archivo. Considérelo la versión fuera de línea y algo limitada de http://packages.ubuntu.com .
Como usó apt-file updatesin sudo, no puede usar un directorio de todo el sistema (típicamente /var/cache/apt/apt-file), y en su lugar usa un directorio en su hogar ( ~/.cache/apt-file).
Las búsquedas de otros usuarios no pueden usar la memoria caché de su usuario.
Si usted es el único usuario, en realidad no importa qué caché apt-fileuse, siempre y cuando sea coherente con el uso sudo(o no).
apt-gety apt-filecompartir fuentes, pero ninguno afecta al otro.
