El Administrador de actualizaciones dice 'No se pueden instalar todas las actualizaciones'

Tengo 11.04 instalado con Gnome 3 y todo funcionaba bien hasta que intenté ejecutar el administrador de actualizaciones. Ahora no puedo actualizar ninguno de mis paquetes. Hace un tiempo se publicó una pregunta similar pero no se presentó ninguna solución

Después de instalar cada uno de los paquetes (vía sudo apt-get install [package]) retenidos, todo parece ser normal. Entonces, ¿por qué tuve que reinstalar todo? Supongo que tiene que hacer todo con gnome3 ya que cada paquete se instaló a través de su repositorio.

@fossfreedom Instalado totemy en ejecución update&& upgrademe permitió actualizar, eogpero los otros paquetes aún están retenidos

ok - paso a paso - busquemos un paquete que definitivamente se está reteniendo - intente instalar el paquete con sudo apt-get install <packagename>- si da errores - reemplace la edición de tótem con este nuevo error de paquete.

A veces descubrí que el administrador de paquetes no puede hacer frente a la extensión de los cambios que un PPA en particular solicita actualizar.

Por ejemplo, el administrador comienza a procesar un archivo, pero deja de reclamar dependencias incorrectas, sin analizar más a fondo que un paquete o paquetes posteriores en el PPA habrían cumplido esa dependencia.

En estos casos, debe hacer lo siguiente: ejecutar en una terminal

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Esto le dará una lista de paquetes que no puede instalar.

Ir a través de la lista uno por uno tratando de instalarlo, es decir

sudo apt-get install <package name>

Una vez que haya hecho esto, repita los comandos de actualización / actualización y repita el resto de los paquetes / paquetes nuevos que solicita. Puede que tenga que hacer esto varias veces hasta que todos los paquetes estén instalados.

Solo me pregunto: por lo que recuerdo, el 'Not all updates can be installed'mensaje suele ir acompañado de la opción de 'Run partial upgrade'. Para evitarlo, ¿recomendaría (también) ejecutar una "actualización parcial", reiniciar y luego verificar si Update Mgrqueda algo por hacer después de reiniciar? ¿Su método de línea de comandos y este método "GUI" equivaldrían a lo mismo? ¿Igualmente "seguro" / confiable?
