Estoy ejecutando un Ubuntu 12.04, he configurado "ssmtp" con mi cuenta de gmail y ahora recibo cada hora un correo electrónico con un informe, este es un ejemplo:

He comentado la línea 17 * * * * root cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly, pero el correo electrónico sigue llegando.

Simplemente agregue a continuación a /etc/crontab

MAILTO=""

para evitar que crontab envíe correos electrónicos, edita /etc/sysconfig/crondy agrega esto CRONDARGS='-m off'.
Guarde y reinicie crond.

Cuando cron inicia un proceso, captura cualquier salida que llegue a stdout y stderr, y la envía en un correo electrónico. Para evitar estos correos electrónicos, puede redirigir stdout y stderr, ya sea a un archivo de registro que supervise, o / dev / null, si no le importa.

Me gusta esta respuesta porque puede deshabilitar los correos para un trabajo específico, en lugar de MAILTO = "" que deshabilitaría todo el correo cron.
