Debian 6 en HP proliant (2 CPU) con raid (2 * 1.5T RAID1 + 2 * 2T RAID1 se unió a RAID0 para hacer 3.5T) ejecutando principalmente nfs e imapd (más samba para Windows Share y www local para previsualizar páginas web); con el cliente de escritorio ubuntu local montando $ HOME, las computadoras portátiles acceden a archivos imap y extraños (por ejemplo, videos) a través de nfs / smb; cajas conectadas 100baseT o wifi a través del enrutador / conmutador doméstico

El programa de instalación ha estado funcionando durante meses, pero es propenso a ser muy lento de forma intermitente (experiencia del usuario en el montaje de escritorio $ HOME desde el servidor o computadora portátil que reproduce videos) y ahora es tan malo que he tenido que profundizar para tratar de encontrar lo que está mal (! )
El servidor parece estar bien con poca carga, por ejemplo, un cliente (portátil) (con $ HOME en el disco local) que se conecta al RAID de montaje imapd y nfs del servidor para acceder a 1 archivo: la parte superior muestra carga ~ 0.1 o menos, 0 espera
pero cuando el cliente (de escritorio) monta $ HOME e inicia la sesión de KDE del usuario (todos acceden al servidor), la parte superior muestra, por ejemplo

Por lo tanto, creo que tengo alguna idea de cuál es el problema, pero no soy un experto en sistemas de administración de Linux en lo más remoto de mi imaginación y realmente agradecería alguna pista aquí con mi diagnóstico y qué debo hacer:
- obviamente necesito buscar otra unidad para sdc. (Supongo que podría comprar una unidad más grande si el precio es correcto: estoy pensando que algún día tendré que aumentar el tamaño de la matriz y esa sería una unidad menos para reemplazar por una más grande)
- luego use mdadm para fallar el sdc existente, quítelo y coloque la nueva unidad
- fdisk la nueva unidad con la misma partición de tamaño para la matriz que la anterior tenía
- use mdadm para agregar la nueva unidad a la matriz
